Choosing the Right Workflow: Copy-Existing vs. Self-Rectified vs. Limber-Rectified
At Limber, our goal is simple: make it easier for clinicians to deliver high-quality prosthetic care through modern tools and efficient digital workflows. We know every clinic has its own rhythm and every patient presents unique challenges, which is why we’ve built flexibility into our approach from day one. Whether you’re replicating a trusted socket or sending us a scan for rectification, Limber’s clinical app gives you options designed to fit your workflow, not force you into ours.
This guide outlines the three main digital workflows available through the Limber Clinical app: Copy-Existing, Self-Rectified, and Limber-Rectified, and clarifies how each one functions in practice.
Streamlined Tools Designed Around Clinical Needs
The Limber platform allows clinicians to initiate and manage prosthetic orders digitally using structured workflows, 3D scan inputs, and integrated order tracking. With Limber’s integrated 3D scanner or another compatible 3D scanner, a new UniLeg order can be submitted in under 30 minutes. The app walks clinicians through scan uploads, patient intake, and order selection, helping standardize and speed up the process.
Each workflow type offers a different level of clinical involvement, depending on whether the practitioner wants to reproduce an existing socket, apply their own rectification, or delegate rectification to the Limber team.
Copy-Existing Workflow: Reproducing a Known Fit

This workflow is intended for patients who already have a comfortable, well-fitting, and well aligned prosthesis that will be duplicated. Clinicians may use this workflow to provide secondary prosthetic legs – for example, a “shower leg” or just an additional leg for specific activities.
Clinicians are required to generate two digital files for this workflow: one scan of the existing prosthesis and one of the existing socket. The socket file can come from an alginate pour, an existing fully rectified digital positive model, or even a scan of an existing plaster model. Limber then fabricates the UniLeg to match the fit and alignment of the original socket.
This option allows clinicians to preserve a successful fit while enabling patients to get a new device without the need for recasting or new alignment. The Copy Existing workflow is the workhorse of Limber workflow options, and it can even be used to copy a dynamically fit prosthesis for a definitive device for first time patients.
Self-Rectified Workflow: In-House Control
With the self-rectified workflow, the clinician follows their historical workflow process, providing a fully rectified socket, measurements, and alignment. After modifying a positive model to meet the patient’s needs, the final shape is scanned and uploaded to Limber for fabrication.
This approach is well suited to first-time fittings of patients in a UniLeg (e.g. no existing prosthesis to clone) as well as clinicians who want to maintain full control over socket shape and adjustment, particularly for complex cases or high-activity users. It mirrors traditional prosthetic workflows but leverages Limber’s 3D-printed device production and integrated alignment.
Limber-Rectified Workflow: Outsourcing the Rectification
Clinics that prefer to reduce hands-on time can choose the Limber-Rectified option. In this workflow, the clinician scans the patient’s residual limb and submits the raw data without modification. Limber’s internal clinical team performs the rectification and produces the final socket shape.
However, this workflow is primarily designed for use by international clinics, remote care teams, or new Limber users still adopting digital tools. It allows Limber to support practitioners in remote locations with less access to expertise and tools. Use of the Limber Rectified workflow requires pre-approval by Limber.
Consistent Fabrication and Fit
In all three workflows, the alignment and suspension components are integrated into the UniLeg’s structure during fabrication. The result is a simplified fitting process with fewer post-delivery adjustments. The UniLeg is produced as a single, 3D-printed unit with options for flexible foot design, water compatibility, and optional add-ons such as molded tread or soft inserts.
Feedback from clinicians using each workflow indicates consistent fit outcomes and reduced time spent on physical adjustments, especially when paired with high-quality scans.
Summary: Selecting the Right Workflow
Each workflow supports different clinic needs and patient types. Here’s a quick reference:
- Copy-Existing: Best for replicating an existing, well-aligned, well-fitting prosthesis without changes
- Self-Rectified: Best for clinicians who want full control over fit and rectification, and first time patients being fit with a UniLeg
- Limber-Rectified: Reserved for special cases for clinics that prefer or require to outsource rectification to Limber
Clinicians can switch between workflows depending on the case. The Limber team is available to support initial orders and answer workflow-specific questions.
